Last updated 5 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Jyoti Digital (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you visit www.jyotidigital.com, create an account, place an order, ask for a price, or contact us by phone, WhatsApp, email or at our stores.
We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”) and its Rules as they come into force, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. Please read this policy together with our Terms and Conditions.
Who we are
Jyoti Digital sells mobiles, electronics and home appliances, and helps customers with service, through this website, our main store in Pilibhit and our branch stores at Chawla Chauraha (Pilibhit), Amaria and Barkhera Kalan. We decide why and how your personal data is used, so under the DPDP Act we are the Data Fiduciary and you are the Data Principal.

Personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to sell, deliver and support your products.
Data you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile number and password. Your password is stored only in hashed (one-way scrambled) form, so nobody at Jyoti Digital can read it.
- Order details: products ordered, delivery and billing addresses, PIN code, contact number and email, and your GSTIN if you choose to add one for a business invoice.
- Refund details: for Cash on Delivery orders, the UPI ID or bank account details you give us to receive a refund. We use them only for that refund.
- Returns, warranty and support: the reason for a return, the photos you attach, any unboxing video you share with us, service-centre reports such as a DOA certificate or job sheet, and the messages in your support tickets.
- Messages and enquiries: what you send us through the contact form, email, WhatsApp or phone, including enquiries about products marked “Price on request”.
- Reviews and questions: product reviews, ratings, photos, questions and answers you post. Your name is shown publicly with them.
- Wishlist and alerts: products you save, price-drop and back-in-stock alerts you set up, and the email address you give for an alert if you are not signed in.
- Your choices: your marketing choice, notification settings and theme preferences.
Data collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and sign-in times. We record these with sign-ins, orders, payments and other account activity to keep the store secure and prevent fraud.
- Shopping activity: searches you make on our website, products you view, and items you add to your cart or wishlist.
- Store statistics: our website keeps its own simple log of events, such as product views and orders, so we can see which products are popular. This log does not record your IP address. Visits are grouped by a scrambled code made from your browsing session. If you are signed in, the event is linked to your account.
Data we receive from others
- Razorpay: whether your payment succeeded, the payment reference, the payment method type (for example UPI or card) and refund status.
- Courier partners: shipment, tracking and delivery status.
- Brand service centres: inspection results for a product you have reported as defective.
What we never collect
We never see or store your full card number, CVV, card PIN, UPI PIN or net-banking password. You enter these only on Razorpay’s secure payment page. We will never ask you for an OTP, PIN or CVV by phone, WhatsApp or email. If anyone does, it is not us.
Why we use your data
- To take, confirm, deliver and track your orders, including Cash on Delivery and store pickup where these are offered.
- To process payments, cancellations, returns, replacements and refunds.
- To help with installation, demos and warranty claims through the brand’s authorised service centres.
- To create and manage your account, and let you save addresses, wishlists and alerts.
- To answer your questions, including price and availability enquiries.
- To send service messages: order confirmations, shipping and delivery updates, cancellation and refund notices, and security alerts such as a password change.
- To send the price-drop and back-in-stock alerts you asked for, cart reminders and review requests to account holders (you can turn these off), and offers and new-arrival news only if you opted in.
- To show your reviews and questions on product pages after moderation.
- To improve our website, search results and product range, using our own store statistics.
- To detect and prevent fraud, fake orders, misuse and security attacks.
- To meet legal duties, such as GST invoicing, tax and accounting records, and lawful requests from authorities.
We will not use your data for a new, unrelated purpose without telling you and, where the law requires, asking for your consent first.
Consent and legitimate uses
Under the DPDP Act, we use your personal data either with your consent or for a legitimate use allowed by Section 7 of the Act.
- When you give data for a purpose: when you place an order, ask for a price or request a return, you give us your details for that purpose. We use them for that purpose and the steps needed to complete it, such as sharing your address with the courier.
- When the law requires it: we keep invoices and tax records, and share data with authorities when a law, court order or lawful request requires it.
- With your consent: marketing emails, price-drop and back-in-stock alerts, publishing your reviews with your name, and any analytics or advertising cookies we may add in future. You give this consent by a clear action, such as ticking a box or pressing a button. The marketing box is never pre-ticked.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it (see “Marketing messages and alerts” below). Withdrawing does not affect what we did before, and we may still keep data the law requires us to keep. You may choose not to give us some details, but then we may not be able to complete your order or request.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share only what each party needs to do its job.

|---|---|---|
| Hostinger | Hosts our website and its database | The data stored on our website |
| Google Workspace | Our business email (contact@jyotidigital.com), used to send order and account emails and to answer yours | Your email address and the emails between us, including the order details in them |
| Razorpay | Processes online payments and refunds | Your name, email, mobile number, order amount and reference, and the payment details you enter on Razorpay’s page |
| Shiprocket, its courier companies and other courier companies we use | Pickup, delivery, return pickup and tracking | Your name, phone number, delivery address, PIN code, parcel details and any Cash on Delivery amount |
| Only when you choose to message us on WhatsApp | Your WhatsApp number and messages | |
| The brand’s authorised service centres and technicians | Installation, demo, DOA checks and warranty help, when you ask us to help | Your name, phone number, address, product, serial number or IMEI, and invoice details |
| Government authorities, courts and police | Only when a law or a lawful order requires it | What the law or order asks for |
Service providers that process data for us may use it only to provide their service to us. Some of them, such as Razorpay, WhatsApp and courier companies, also follow their own privacy policies for data they handle under their own legal duties.
Some providers, such as Google, may store data on servers outside India. Any such transfer follows Indian law, including any country restrictions notified by the Government of India.
If our business is ever sold, merged or restructured, customer data may pass to the new owner, who must continue to protect it as this policy describes.
Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser and reads back on your next visit. Local storage is similar, but it stays on your device and is not sent to us automatically.
Cookies that run the store (always on)
- Session cookie: keeps you signed in and keeps checkout working. It expires after a period of inactivity or when you sign out.
- “Keep me signed in” cookie: set only if you tick that box when you sign in. It keeps you signed in on that device until you sign out.
- Security token: protects the forms on our website against misuse.
- Cart cookie: remembers your cart for up to 30 days when you are not signed in.
- Recently viewed cookie: remembers the products you viewed, for up to 60 days, when you are not signed in.
The website cannot work properly without these, so they are always on.
Preferences saved on your device
- Your light or dark theme, colour choice, and list or grid view.
- Your recent searches, your product comparison list and the PIN code you last checked.
- Your cookie choice.
- If you check out as a guest, your delivery address and email, so you don’t have to type them again on that device. On a shared computer, clear your browser’s site data after ordering.
You can clear cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings. The website will still work, but it will forget your choices and you may need to sign in again.
Analytics and advertising cookies
We do not use analytics or advertising tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or the Meta (Facebook) Pixel today. If we add them in future, they will load only after you agree through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time using “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of every page. We will update this policy before that happens.
How long we keep your data
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Account details: profile, addresses, wishlist, alerts and preferences | While your account is open. When you delete your account, they are erased or anonymised straight away. |
| Orders, invoices, payment, refund and return records | As long as Indian tax and accounting laws require, generally up to 8 years. |
| Support tickets, return photos, messages and enquiries | As long as needed to resolve the matter and any follow-up. If linked to an order, they are kept with that order’s records. |
| Search history | Up to 1 year. |
| Store statistics | Up to about 13 months. |
| Recently viewed products in your account | Up to 6 months. |
| Carts of visitors who are not signed in | Deleted after 45 days without activity. |
| Security and activity logs, including IP addresses | At least 1 year and generally up to 2 years, so we can look into misuse or fraud. An IP address saved with an order or payment stays with that order’s records. |
| Alerts set up with an email address when not signed in | Until you unsubscribe, or until the alert is no longer needed. |
Any other personal data is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed, or within a reasonable time after you delete your account.
How we protect your data
- The whole website uses HTTPS encryption.
- Passwords are stored only in hashed (one-way scrambled) form.
- Online payments happen on Razorpay’s secure checkout, and every payment is verified with Razorpay on our server before your order is confirmed.
- Admin access is role-based: staff see only what their work needs, and admin actions are logged.
- We share only the data each partner needs.
No system is completely secure. If a personal data breach happens, we will act quickly to contain it and will inform affected customers and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act and its Rules require.
You can help too: use a strong password that you don’t use anywhere else, never share it, and use “Sign out other devices” in My account → Login & security if you think someone else has used your account.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Access: get a summary of the personal data we hold about you, how we use it, and who we have shared it with.
- Correction and updating: correct inaccurate or misleading data, complete incomplete data, and update it.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your personal data, except what we must keep to meet a legal duty, such as tax records.
- Withdraw consent: at any time, for anything you agreed to, such as marketing emails or alerts.
- Grievance redressal: complain to our Grievance Officer and get a response within the times given below.

Marketing messages and alerts

These are on by default. Turn off “Cart reminders” or “Review requests after delivery” in My account → Notifications. Each of these emails also links to that page.
- Order and security messages: order confirmations, delivery updates, refund notices and security alerts are part of our service. We recommend keeping them on.

If you believe a child has given us personal data without this consent, contact us and we will delete it, except records the law requires us to keep.

Our website links to services we do not control, such as WhatsApp, Razorpay’s payment page, courier tracking pages, maps to our stores, and brand websites and service centres. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them, so please read those before sharing personal data there.
